Our Commitment to Your Privacy

At Sonolabs.ai, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how Sonolab OÜ, doing business as "Sonolabs," "we," "us," or "our," collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you access or use sonolabs.ai, its subdomains, and APIs (collectively, the "Website") and the related services, tools, and features (collectively, the "Services").

This Privacy Policy forms part of the Sonolabs Terms of Service and should be read together with them. Capitalized terms not defined in this Privacy Policy have the meanings given in the Terms. If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or our data practices, you may contact us at support@sonolabs.ai.

1. Scope and Key Concepts

The Services enable you to submit content such as audio recordings, voice samples, text prompts, videos, and other materials ("Inputs") and to generate synthesized sound recordings, voice models, and other content ("Outputs"). Inputs and Outputs together are referred to as "Your Content."

This Privacy Policy applies to information we process when you visit or use the Website, create or manage an account, use our APIs or paid plans, or communicate with us. It does not apply to third-party websites, services, or providers that you access independently, which are governed by their own privacy policies and practices.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us, information generated through your use of the Services, and certain information collected automatically.

When you create an account or communicate with us, you may provide personal information such as your name, email address, username, and other account-related details. If you sign in using a third-party authentication provider such as Google or GitHub, we receive limited account identifiers and basic profile information in accordance with your settings and the provider's policies. If you subscribe to paid Services, billing-related information such as billing address and transaction metadata is processed through our payment provider, Stripe; Sonolabs does not generally store full payment card numbers.

When you use the Services, we process the Inputs you submit and the Outputs you generate. Depending on how you use the platform, this may include audio recordings, voice samples, text prompts, videos, generated audio files, and related artifacts. We also collect information automatically, such as IP address, browser type, device and operating system information, usage data, timestamps, pages viewed, error logs, and approximate location derived from IP address.

We may additionally receive information from third parties that support our Services, including authentication providers, payment processors, analytics or security vendors, and infrastructure providers.

3. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to operate, maintain, and provide the Services, including creating and managing accounts, processing Inputs and generating Outputs at your request, providing customer support, and administering subscriptions and access controls.

We also use information to maintain the security and integrity of the Services, including detecting and preventing fraud, misuse, and unauthorized access, enforcing our Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy, and protecting Sonolabs and its users.

Information may be used to improve and develop the Services, such as diagnosing errors, improving performance, testing features, and enhancing usability. Sonolabs does not use your Inputs, Outputs, or usage data to train, fine-tune, or improve Sonolabs' own artificial intelligence or machine learning models.

We may use your information to communicate with you regarding service-related matters, including account notifications, billing updates, security alerts, and changes to our policies or Services. We also process information as necessary to comply with legal obligations, lawful requests, and to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

4. Third-Party AI Services and Data Handling

Certain functionalities of the Services rely on artificial intelligence models, APIs, or infrastructure provided by third-party service providers. While Sonolabs does not use your Inputs, Outputs, or usage data to train its own AI models, these third-party providers may process, retain, or use data submitted through their services in accordance with their own terms, privacy policies, and data usage practices.

Where possible, Sonolabs may seek to configure third-party services to limit data retention or model training; however, Sonolabs does not control and cannot guarantee the internal practices of third-party providers. Your use of the Services therefore may also be subject to the data practices of such providers, as permitted by applicable law.

5. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA and UK Users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, Sonolabs processes personal data where necessary to perform a contract with you, such as providing access to the Services. We also process data where it is in our legitimate interests, including securing and improving the Services, preventing misuse, and protecting our business and users, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights. In some cases, we process data based on your consent or to comply with legal obligations.

6. How We Share Information

We share information with service providers that help us operate the Services, such as payment processors, authentication providers, hosting and infrastructure vendors, analytics providers, and security services. These parties are authorized to process information only as necessary to perform services on our behalf and are subject to contractual or legal obligations where applicable.

If you choose to export, share, or connect Your Content or account with third-party services or platforms, information will be shared at your direction and will be subject to the third party's own terms and privacy practices. Sonolabs does not control how such third parties collect, use, or disclose your information after transfer.

We may disclose information when required to comply with law or legal process, to protect the rights, property, or safety of Sonolabs, our users, or others, or to investigate fraud, misuse, or security issues. Information may also be transferred as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, subject to applicable law.

7. Data Retention

Sonolabs retains information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Services, fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Inputs and Outputs may be retained for limited periods to provide the Services, enable user access, comply with legal obligations, and support security, abuse prevention, and billing verification, after which they may be deleted or anonymized in accordance with our data retention practices. Retention periods depend on the nature of the data, your account status, and applicable legal requirements. Some information may be retained after account termination where required for security, fraud prevention, or legal compliance.

8. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to enable core functionality, keep you signed in, remember preferences, understand usage patterns, improve performance, and detect security issues. Where required by applicable law (such as in the EEA and UK), we obtain your consent before placing non-essential cookies and similar technologies on your device. You may control cookies through your browser settings, although disabling certain cookies may affect the functionality of the Services.

9. Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for safeguarding your login credentials and for all activity conducted through your account.

10. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing of your information, as well as the right to data portability where applicable. You may exercise these rights by contacting support@sonolabs.ai. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

If you are located in the EEA or the UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

11. International Data Transfers

The Services are offered globally, and your information may be processed in countries other than your country of residence. These jurisdictions may not provide the same level of data protection. Where required by law, Sonolabs implements appropriate safeguards to protect personal data transferred internationally, such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms.

12. Children's Privacy

The Services are not intended for individuals under the age of 18, and Sonolabs does not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe that a minor has provided personal data to us, please contact support@sonolabs.ai, and we will take appropriate steps.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Revised" date above. If changes are material, we will use reasonable efforts to notify you, such as by email or by posting a prominent notice on the Website. Continued use of the Services after the effective date of an updated Privacy Policy constitutes acceptance of the updated policy, to the extent permitted by law.
